Enjoy indoor bowls to the Max!

Week 1 – Done & Dusted

Well, first week of the new indoor bowling season has passed us by with mixed fortunes for our squad.

Wednesday saw us in action against A Load Of Cobblers, (Northampton Town Football Club, fans, season ticket holders, not a reflection on their bowling).

Our opponents were relegated down from Division 1 last season so we knew we could be up against it. Fortunately we’ve had more practice sessions than they had and it proved to be one of the decisive factors in the final result.

We were able to start our season with a 25-9 victory!

It could be that following a good pre-season we may have peaked too early, only the next few weeks will tell.

Our Friday game this week, and our first venture into the Division 1 league having been promoted at the end of last season, was against Guys And Dolls, seasoned campaigners in the higher echelons of Wellingborough Bowls Leagues.

We bowled well to lead 13-10 with 3 ends remaining and then we didn’t have much going for us.

Two ends later, having dropped 2 successive 5’s we now went into the last end losing 20-13, it couldn’t get any worse.

It did! We dropped a 7, on the last end to lose the match 27-13

We didn’t need an inquest afterwards, “It happens!”

A lot of positive signs for the season ahead, we pick ourselves up and go again next week.

Week 2 sees us with only 1 match to play in The Super league Division 2 against The Clangers.

Onwards and Upwards.
